Series: Drama Ensues
Book One: Understudy (title changed from Ventriloquist)
Drama Ensues character, Jayde Henrick, is a driven teen with a message, and you’re going to hear it one way or another. Jayde is a teen counselor at the crisis pregnancy center, she writes an anonymous matchmaking blog where she tries to help the teens at her school make better choices, and she's active in school theater. She has a big secret in her past.
Quote from page one, the first anonymous blog entry (I'd like to see this on the back cover)
Guess who’s dating whatshisname. . .drama ensues.
So-and-so is pregnant. . .drama ensues.
Whatshername got a DUI. . .drama ensues.
See my point? Dumb choices always seem to happen in that space right before the ellipsis, which is always followed by, you guessed it, drama ensues. This blog is my attempt at getting in your heads before the drama.
This is a three book series, so I plan to come back for books 2 & 3. It would be great if the same designer could do those in a few months.
I own dramaensues.com--I have a rough website/blog for it built behind the scenes. But I want to pick a cover before I finalize the colors and style. This is the link to what I have so far: http://www.wix.com/nicoleodell/drama-ensues But don't let that style/colors/font sway the cover design at all.
The cover should be quirky, thoughtful, kind of deep but still appealing to older teens. I like when the cover design extends to the back.
Think Glee (school drama club, plays, etc), meets Juno (quirky, teen pregnancy topic), meets secret matchmaking blogger about teen pregnancy.
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.4; font-family: inherit; text-align: left; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(97, 107, 128); ">And I'd love to see the use of an eggtimer on the back cover since that's part of each of the three books.
