I love Lila's work so much. So responsive. So intuitive. So lovely to work with. Never disappointed.
Nellista is the best typesetter I have ever worked with. I HIGHLY recommend her skills!
This designer was awesome! I just loved the work, communication and his willingness to change the subtitles and such. Will definitely hire again!
Excellent experience! She understood exactly what I wanted. Was very prompt making requested changes. Very seamless experience. I can see why she's won so many contests. Very creative and professional. 5 stars --- highly recommend this designer.
Although this is my first time using 99deigns I have to say... the process has been great! Avargas90 came a little late to the party and the original design was not close to what I wanted but we worked together to it it there. Avergas90 was very patient and made every change I requested. Also Avergas90 took risk to show me things that I had not thought of which improved the design and are a part of the final product. All-in-all 99edsigns has a great process and Avargas90 is a top notch designer that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
How Millerluke681 started their book cover journey
Who are you known as?
CHRISTIAN MERCY: Compassion, Proclamation, and Power
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
This book describes how the model for compassion that Jesus demonstrated by his life and teaching can be applied by Christians today who are involved in compassion ministries. The stories and illustrations come from the gospels and from my 35 years as a missionary surgeon working in central Africa, among the poor.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
The central teaching Jesus gave was the story that has come to be known as "The Good Samaritan," in Matthew chapter 10. But Jesus did not stop there, urging his followers to also proclaim his message of forgiveness and salvation through faith in him, and to appropriate God's power to heal the sick through prayer. This teaching is in sharp contrast to humanitarian compassion. I am open to some depiction or evocation of the Good Samaritan in his act of mercy, or something more modern, even if it is somewhat (though not totally) abstract. The book challenges where much of Christendom is going with mercy, so I would prefer that the cover be more edgy than mellow. Helping those who suffer, praying for the sick, and telling dying people about Jesus is not neat and clean, but messy and even chaotic at times.
I would like the cover to somehow evoke acts of compassion (doing more than just feelings), the truth of the gospel, and the miraculous power of God to overcome human suffering through faith and prayer. Since most of my illustrations come from the jungles of central Africa (Gabon) where I served as a surgeon for 35 years, it would not be appropriate to picture a desert or an urban setting. My book "On Call" (available on Amazon.com) tells part of my story, and the experiences that led to this book, as does the sequel, "The Hand on My Scalpel." At this point I am open to an abstract approach, but also something like a drawing illustrating a compassionate act.
