Tracy is awesome! It's like she read my mind on the front cover. My wife and I both said "wow" when we saw it. I already know who is going to do my next cover!

My book title is "They Look Like Soldiers". I need a book cover that is captivating, intriguing and impactful - something that captures a youthful exuberance and fearless optimism about life and the future. The cover should show four African American teenagers (around 14 years of age) leaving for home at sunset after a dusty pick-up baseball game they played after school - going down the road (or a railroad track) pretending to be soldiers ( the year is 1940 and the setting is St. Louis, Missouri.) and they should be wearing 1940 clothing. A couple have their baseball bats (one with a glove hanging on it) over their shoulders as if they were carrying rifles) and the other two are just jostling one another as they walk. ( They were told earlier by a young female minister) that they were God's little soldiers and they were flattered by that compliment. They walk with their backs to us.You could have one of them looking back if you choose. One of them is much lighter than the other and wears his straw hat (see the pic of Lil Jess that you can use if you choose) and one is quite a bit fatter than the other three and always wears clothes that are too small for him. They might still have their school clothes on...shirttails out, etc. A couple are wearing their caps. A couple could also wear glasses. They are very good friends and they do everything together.
This is the first in a series of books called Lil Jess & The Finders. The first book is about a group of African American teenager boys who become known as "The Finders" after their success in finding a number of pets and personal items that had been lost or stolen. Their random finding process takes on a more serious turn as they are enlisted into a community effort to stop an unscrupulous land developer and a gang of school dropouts who work for them. Along the way, in their search for purpose, truth and justice, The Finders also begin to discover something they did not know they were looking for - the keys to their identity and faith.
