This is a commentary series. The first volume is Matthew, Mark and Luke; The Synoptic Gospels. The second volume is the Gospel of John. It is commentary and devotional designed to be used daily. The commentary take a chapter of the Gospels, or a half a chapter, and accurately interprets it in light of the literary, historical and cultural contexts. At the end of the daily reading there is short devotional applying a concept from the study. Volume 1 is designed to be done over 100 days where as volume 2 (to be released in 2016) will be over 40 days. The series is being published with Amazon Create Space. Proof copies have been printed for review. The reviewers have commented on the need for a better cover design. To consider similar books in the field one can search "Bible commentary" or "Bible devotional". I have included the Photoshop file of the current cover which is based on Create Space requirements.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
The cover should contain the same basic information. However, it is blah and lacks character. Ideally, (1) it needs to reflect eye candy that will say "pick me up". But it also (2) needs to have a feel of class and antiquity with a scholarly edge that also feels friendly. (2) The series title of "The Daily Commentary and Devotional Vol. 1" needs to have a logo design. (3) Yes, the author name can be smaller if artists deem it wise. (4). I am open to phrase changes on the back if in reading you don't feel the flow. (5) I am willing to consider the thought of a scan character which people can scan to get reviews.
Note in the PSD file, the background can be turned on or off. In the on view it shows where bleeds are and where Create Space puts the ISBN
