This highly personal book illuminates eating disorders from the perspective of someone who has struggled and overcome an eating disorder, and offers hope as well as help". - Dr. Nina Savelle-Rocklin, Psy.D., psychoanalyst, eating disorder specialist, award-winning blogger, author, creator of the Win The Diet War programs You Are Not Your Eating Disorder is a book written for anyone who lives with an eating disorder or wants to know how to help someone who does. This simple and straightforward guide created by nutritional therapist, speaker and health activist Thomas Grainger, comes from his own lived experience of successfully overcoming years of struggling with life-threateneing anorexia nervosa as well as orthorexia nervosa. Grainger tackles all the burning questions you as a sufferer or loved one have towards the nature of eating disorders. This book is the perfect starting point in not only identifying whether you or someone you know might have an eating disorder, it is also a journey through the optimal recovery process, a guide to finding your inner identity and unlocking your true potential. Grainger combines a holistic approach to understanding health and wellbeing to provide personal solutions to restoring health, vitality and happiness for anyone experiencing an eating disorder. He provides the essential steps to beating an eating disorder for life. Divided into 3 key sections: Understanding Eating Disorders, Recovering and Helping Others, this book is framed as a series of questions and answers, covering topics such as: * How to recover from an eating disorder - overcoming challenges, hurdles and emotional blockages * Creating and maintaining a positive mindset * How to balance nutrition, exercise and an active social life * Effective support strategies for family and loved ones Each section is designed to be customisable to the individual’s personal situation. Everyone’s experience is different and Grainger gives emphasis to this in the way the book progresses. You Are Not Your Eating Disorder also includes personal stories and advice from both individuals who have had an eating disorder, as well as from loved ones who have supported the individual with an eating disorder. Including the perspective of both the sufferer and those living with the person, an enriched and in-depth approach to framing the most effective strategies for long-term and complete recovery is addressed. You Are Not Your Eating Disorder also includes bonus interview material with key spokespeople and industry professionals such as the CEO of The Butterfly Foundation, Christine Morgan and world-renowned blogger and orthorexia survivor, Jordan Younger.
