danielxR got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
Design an app icon for the most delicious language learning app!
Check out danielxR's Icon or button contest…
Drops is the most fluid, game-like language learning app on the market. We're keyboard free, completely gesture-based, and we'd like to communicate this even more with the app icon. Please download the app to get an idea what is it like to play with Drops: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/drops-learn-chinese-korean-japanese-hebrew-etc/id939540371?mt=8 (it’s free) 3 unique attributes: Super quick and time-limited: user can only use it for 5 minutes a day Visual: every single word is illustrated » we teach via pictures Beautiful, candy like user interface and swipe based, quick navigation (no keyboard typing at all) Demographic-wise, currently 55% of our users are female, and 25-35 age group is the most prevalent.
What's your vision?
We’d like to have a new app icon, that instead of blending in, stands out from both among the language learning apps and in general. We want it to have a bit more game-y, freemium-like feel for it, than what it is right now. Please ignore the current name / logo of the app - we’re not insistent on “Drops”, and would like to get a wide range of ideas for this contest. We want to avoid a homogenous result. There are a few directions we have been thinking about regarding the metaphor: Candy Mouth (can be open, "shouting" or sticking tongue out - playful) Drop(s) (yes, this is what we have now, and we still think it’s viable, but not in its current form) A few more associations: Luquid: fluid, fluent, quick, glides tiny particles (words) of a big one (language) candy drops - dissolves quickly, bitesize treat, sweet, tasty, delicious Suprise Raindrop: refreshing effortless Language: speechbubble, tongue, mouth, communication habit, addiction focus fully visual: our product teaches language based on illustrations swift, rapid, nimble
The new logo shouldn't be similar to the current one
