Steve CQ got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
New iPhone App Icon for "Firelight"
Check out Steve CQ's Icon or button contest…
Firelight is a mobile application designed to innovate the online dating space. Rather than traditional online dating, we empower matchmakers (within the single person's network) to create introductions for their friends and family. It is not online dating, it is "social" dating.
What's your vision?
We need a new iPhone app icon designed for Firelight. We are looking for something creative and eye-catching, that also aligns with current app colors (Mostly a very dark blue/black, and orange. We also have hints of light blue and white in our app). We are open to clean, modern, and creative designs. Please, nothing cliche in terms of "dating." We don't really want anything with a bunch of hearts, or lips or anything silly like that. This should have a modern and urban style. It can be minimalist as well. Something that captures the essence of the light shone by a fire, or the spark that lights a fire would be good. Please make it aligned with our logo / app (please see screenshots attached). Happy to answer any other questions you may have.
Please follow best practices and deliver multiple formats per Apple guidelines: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/AppIcons.html
