What's your vision?
- Cover illustration for science journal Nature - Our scientists are looking for artwork illustrating a specific discovery they will publish in the prestigious scientific journal, Nature. - Please be sure to read all of the brief below and ask us if there are any questions about what should be ilustrated. There are very specific requirements of what the illustration must show to be considered, which are outlined below. - The illustration will describe two processes going on in the dendritic spines of neurons. 1) molecular activity, shown by different colors within the spines (see Attachment 1).It is important that the colors stay the same as in the attachment. It is important that the spine on the left has mostly yellow/red, and that you can visualize some of the yellow activity spreading into the adjacent spine, as seen in the attachment. 2) autocrine signalling on the spine (see Attachment 2). Autocrine signalling means that molecules are being released and then triggering an activation on a receptor of the same structure. Attachment 2 is a very rough sketch we made up. You can also google autocrine signalling to see various depictions. You can be creative with how this is illustrated, and if you choose to illustrate the receptor at all. - Attachment 3 shows a zoomed out view of how spines are localized on the neuron to provide a better idea of the localization of the structure and what part of the neuron we're talking about. - Please keep in mind we are discussing a very specific structure on a neuron, so illustrations with general imagery of neurons as a whole would not be applicable. - We've attached a few examples of Nature covers as well to provide an idea of the typical style used on their covers for reference -- but if your idea is outside of these typical styles, we would be happy to see any new and creative ideas.

It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their illustration or graphics.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
sci.comm collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected 3 winners!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
