"It Doesn't Matter What You're Selling" is a sales and marketing book.
What's your vision?
I’m looking for dynamic new cover art for my book, titled: “IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU’RE SELLING.” Given the title of the book, the concept I’m thinking of is a scenario where a salesman is selling ice to an eskimo (referencing the well-known expression). I’ve attached my really crappy concept art as a small visual guide. Please note the following details I am looking to have on a final version: The salesman is on the left side of the image. He’s wearing a hat and a suit (think the show ‘Madmen’ and the stereotypical look of a salesman). He’s got a sly smile on his face (but not evil), and he’s holding out a huge block of ice with both arms... reaching out and presenting it to the eskimo. The eskimo is on the right side of the image. His face either doesn’t have much expression at all OR he’s got a huge smile — whichever you feel fits the piece more. He’s wearing one of those standard arctic coats with the fur around the hood- just search Google for “Eskimo Cartoon” and check the images to see what I mean. He’s handing over two bags of money. (EDIT - I've gotten some questions over how the posture should be of both the salesman and the eskimo, so I added another concept art image to this brief). In the background is an igloo and a polar bear (the bear might be sitting and watching the whole transaction and have a weird inquisitive look on its face). Maybe slight scenery in addition to that. It’s obvious this is a wintery scene, and so it’s technically ridiculous that the salesman should be able to sell ice to the eskimo. The image is meant to be funny - the look and feel of the characters should have that light-hearted feel. With that said, please take the above notes, and while strictly adhering to the description above, please use your imagination and art style to make this great art for a book cover. When it displays on Amazon, there are times when it will be really large, and other times when it will be really small, so clear defined lines are highly recommended. Use your best judgement and a style that really works for you, but please remember that it really needs to pop! I want Amazon shoppers to not be able to take their eyes off of this. Please note that before actually paying, I will need to see the art in its penciled and inked forms (prior to the final colored version) to confirm that everything is originally produced just for this project. So please photographically document those two stages your process.
The final book cover (with the title, author info, etc) will be 2000× 3050 pixels. But the art portion that you'll be doing will be approximately 2000 × 1850 pixels. I am giving you both sizes because… My idea is to have the salesman saying “It Doesn’t Matter What You’re Selling” with a cartoon word balloon (where those words are at the top of the cover in its larger sized version). SO IF you want to do this part as well, feel free to give it a try, but it’s the art portion that will be the ultimate deciding factor, so if you can’t do an attractive font and word balloon, please don’t let that stop you from entering this, especially if you can handle the artwork described above!
