goodoldpat got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Old English family needs powerful new coat of arms
Check out goodoldpat's Illustration or graphics contest…
We want a family coat of arms. New Coat of Arms for old English family which is now a British-American Lockton family for wedding invitations, ornamental, signage (printed on wood, paper and metal), online (so it can be abbreviated). This old English family family is educated, creative and very entrepreneurial (not finance industry) and wants a new, modern or updated fresh coat of arms that brings different strands together. 1. Ancestors - England (40 percent) - USA (40 percent) - Bolivia (less than 20 percent) See original Lockton coat of arms below (English) that’s now out date. 2. Now family is split between England and USA. Still speak Spanish but less. 3. Everyone in family is a mixture of cultures and backgrounds so duality/hybrid is important. 4. Family professions: lawyers, entrepreneurs, creatives (martial arts, film, literature, poetry). All very ambitious, fighting spirit and hard working. 5. Family personality: assertive, sensitive, creative, fighting spirit. Another reason we like the Coywolf or wolf as they are adaptable and personify personality.
What's your vision?
1.We like the idea of a Coywolf (hybrid of Coyote and Wolf that can live anywhere, adaptable and resilient) or even a Wolf on one side (representing the US) and English Lion/Dragon/Griffin/Stag on other side. 2. English side are decedents of Archbishop Stephen Langton who created the Magna Carta but we want a modern take on usual crown and religious motifs in favor of spirit animals but callback to old England. 3. A very very subtle Jerusalem Cross or Lorraine Cross to represent this, is fine, not necessary by any means. 4. Simplicity, identity and spirit is key. 5. Bolivian or Andean touch for distinctiveness is optional. 6. Balance between simplicity for printing and sophistication is key. 7. Lastly, like the Homerton College logo we want to be able to print an abbreviated version of the coat of arms as printing full coat of arms isn't practical all the time. 8. A sense of pf the mystic. Above all, have fun with it!
The first image is old coat of arms. The solo red lion and solitary black on cream wolf image are there as examples of the detail and style we like. The other pictures are examples of coat of arms we like. Have fun with it!
