Paris Lamont got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
StartUp looking for visually stimulating chemistry images to pitch a software idea
Check out Paris Lamont's Illustration or graphics contest…
A startup software company trying to design a chemistry game and tool that can be incorporated into the college classroom and used as a personal study aid and problem-solving guide for students.
What's your vision?
Inspired by a few things: Microsoft HoloLens Promo Video (can be found on YouTube), ChemDraw Software (2D molecular structure drawing), and AutoCAD Software (for 3D engineering designs). The graphic images I am looking for will be used to depict how a new chemistry software can be used as a teaching tool within university settings. In the uploaded files, I have shown a typical computerized 3D model used by chemists (the structure with atoms in grey/white/yellow/red/blue). I also have an image uploaded that I found and think is visually appealing/stimulating. I'm looking for a cross between the two images; something visually appealing yet still simple and not too distracting. Kind of like what AutoCAD does for engineering designs (like the uploaded image of the table designed in AutoCAD), but for chemistry structures. These are the kind of images that I am interested in: 1) Similar to the attached image with a person at a desktop computer. However, I want the image on the screen to be a 3D image of a chemical structure. This will be used to show that the software can be used as a personal study aid for a student (at home or within a computer lab). 2) Similar to another attached image of someone manipulating a hologram with their hand (away from the computer). However, instead of a rocket ship being manipulated, I would like a 3D chemical structure. It can be the same structure as from the first image just shown in a . 3) One image that shows a professor teaching in front of a lecture room of students with an engaging display for students. 4) An image of a computer screen and on that computer screen, an image of one step in a chemistry reaction mechanism with arrows. If you would like to see what a mechanism looks like, a website called ChemTube3D shows many examples (http://chemtube3d.com/Nucleophilic%20substitution%20at%20the%20carbonyl%20group%20-%20Nucleophilic%20attack%20by%20hydride.html). Also I took a screen shot of an image from the ChemTube3D site and attached it to this project description. This image is to show that the software can stand on its own without holograms and still be visually appealing to college students. 5) An image of a gaming interface (two example images uploaded, chalk board and virtual globe - maybe some compromise between the two?) with the top sequence (the image that says "ether from an alcohol...") on the screen as if the student got the problem correct. Some sort of "Congratulations!" message on the screen.
I give feedback throughout the process because i'm really looking to get images that I feel comfortable using to show potential customers and software developers. I hope someone can help bring my visions to life! I am also willing to award more than one design since I have given multiple options for ideas.
