The target audience is primarily young professionals and young families. The collateral material the logo will be used in conjunction with will communicate that Monett is a place where one can have work-life balance due to the great job opportunities AND great quality of life available in Monett. That is the reason we adopted the slogan, “Work, Life, Balanced.” The “work” part comes from the many great job opportunties and the “life” part will emphasise the following community attributes: family-friendly, great housing options, wonderful parks and outdoor recreation opportunities.

My goal for this brand was to keep it loud and fresh, make it stand out from the competition, and appeal to a new-age buyer group. The initial "U" poses as buildings/minimal skyline while also doubling as a bird's eye view of a street, conveying both the message of the brand name, but also a hint of the services. The overall design is kept high and narrow, to convey a sense of strength, youth, and vibrancy.

This was one of my designs that I enjoyed creating most. I made a rough drawing of my idea in my "IdeaBook", scanned the picture and redrew every line in Adobe Illustrator, perfecting the shapes and colours. I worked until 4am, not realising how fast time went by. After submission the client wanted only one minor change - to make the banner look like it is waving in the wind. HomeTown Local had an excellent brief, so it was fairly easy to create exactly what they wanted.

Drove into town after a long day of driving with boxes, furniture, essentials, etc. What they're leaving behind could be an ex wife or ex-husband, an ex-life, a poor reflection of themselves that they don't want to see anymore. They tossed it out when they left town. So it's sunset and they are driving into town, tired, exhausted, but excited. Excited for new adventure, a new journey, a new life. Excited for a change, a new beginning. They see the Dallas skyline in through their windshield (what you have on your design), and a warm, inviting sunset glow behind it. The sun is a reflection of a new beginning, a new life, a clean slate. They keep driving. They’ve arrived.
