James Ting got their new landing page design by running a design contest:
Landing page for a novel photography game site
Check out James Ting's Landing page design contest…
We make learning photography fun and simple by providing a number of games and features users can play and learn photo tips. The goal is to coach photography by using visual methods, not by words. Target users are beginner photographers and smartphone users with little or no photography training, mostly in the 18-45 age range. Also targeting people active on social media sites who want to take better photos.
The desired theme is fun, playful, personable, yet professional and sophisticated, targeting age 18-34 adults mostly. Because the site is about photographs, the theme and colors should not overly compete with the user photos. Prefer cleaner style versus busy. Some suggested colors are: #A64AC9, #FCCD04, #FFB48F, #F5E6CC, #17E9E0, #FFFFF. The game pages will most likely have white background. Please see our existing website, www.funpicks.io. The theme should convey fun, learning, thinking, art, accomplishment, winning, positive feelings. Prefer font that's playful but clean and easy to read, not business-like.
Elements to include in the landing page
The landing page must also translate easily and look good on mobile devices. Please provide mobile device mock ups with your proposal. Fast loading time is important for landing page, so please take this into account. Ideally all graphics and photos combined should be less than 300KB total. Please keep in mind this is the first page we're having professionally designed. As you'll see from the funpicks.io website, there are numerous pages that'll need to be designed after we've decided on the main theme, so the winner will very likely continue on to work on the remaining website. The project is already funded, and we plan to move quickly. Latest update: Please see if it makes sense to include few of the uploaded photos in the following four blocks: 1) Funpicks game 2) Rate My Photo 3) Improve My Photo 4) What's wrong with this photo The major goal is to present each block with the photos such that it's highly obvious to the first time user that to expect from each feature. I imagine it may be best to have custom graphics with the photos to demonstrate the functionality.
