andrewbarrynyc got their new logo & business card by running a design contest:
Create a logo for Lion's Pride Learning

I am originally from South Africa, but have lived in New York since 2009. Hence the lion - emerging from Africa, thriving in the concrete jungle. My dream has always been to have a company that helps people, which is why I am starting Lion's Pride Learning. We are an online learning company. We work with corporate clients of all sizes in delivering a unique new solution to an age old problem - learning & development. It's still an old problem because most large corporations apply old, boring solutions. We are not boring. We aim to entertain, while ensuring that you actually learn something. We do this by combining visual storytelling with cognitive science to create innovative training solutions for our clients. We believe in delivering a polished & professional service to design a creative, engaging, video-based product with high production values. In doing so, we aim to build long term relationships with our clients by developing their employees. I would like the brand identity reflect something bold and new, to be classic, clean and simple with a playful wink at non-traditional roots .
While I would like a logo with an image and the company name, the lion itself needs to be able to exist alone on slide decks, letterheads, etc, separate from any text (so please include a separate file for this). I would like to use a silhouette of a lion similar to the one in the picture uploaded as a prominent feature of the logo. I like the idea of having a unique, maybe unusual color to the lion that pops. The logo should work on a white background, but I'd like the business card to have a solid color background that also pops, so the logo should work with this color too.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo & business card starts at $639.

And then… they selected a winner!
I had an idea for a company name, and a concept that went with it. What I really liked about Erlangga is that he came out with a totally different concept to what I described, and justified it with a thoughtful note. This is exactly the sort of creative direction I was looking for. I am extremely happy with the work and would not hesitate to recommend Erlangga to anyone.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
