DeWinter Project got their new logo & business card by running a design contest:
Help DePict Photogrpahy London with a new logo and business card

It lasts longer
I have just left the big bad corporate office world to follow more creative pursuits, the first being photography. Obviously I need to start earning money quickly and there’s no end of photographers out there to compete with, so I need a logo for my website and business card which will pique the interest of customers and drive them to look further into the website. I also do a lot of writing and the tone of that is quite humorous, so I’d like to follow this through with my photography business. Most photographers seem to go the earnest route on their home pages, extolling the “freezing a moment in time” “a picture last a lifetime” virtues of photography. Of course I like these concepts and they are perfect for photos but I want to express it in a less earnest/serious way... as you can see from my slogan which is taken from the joke people say "Why don't you take a picture, it lasts longer?" when they catch you staring at them.
Other color requirements
black and white, red, green, purple
Target audience - I am aiming at corporate event photography and also more community based things like shooting the local sports groups finals games or portraits at the park of Mums, Dads and kids, so the logo has to be broadly appealing. I’m looking more for cool, fun and indie than serious. The events I’ll be shooting should be fun, lots of photos on the website will be of people playing games, at a party and having a good time, so the logo needs to reflect that. Design - The capital P in DePict is important, it must be a capital. I don’t have any solid ideas for design, I was thinking a symbol which is immediately recognised as photographic, like a camera or tripod, but that may be too generic. I'm completely open to anything really. I'd also prefer if the word London was smaller than DePict Photography and can be in a different font/colour. Just to confuse matters, after seeing the initial entries I find I am drawn more to the subtle designs rather than the loud ones, so expressing fun in a subtle way works better for me if you can mange that. Inspiration - I love the humour of Nando’s advertising, their overall tone is hilarious and playful. I want to pictures I take to be fun too. See examples of Nandos attached to get an idea.
