"Safari For Real" or alternatively "Safari4Real"
My business partner and myself are forming a new tour company based in South Africa which will specialise in sending wildlife enthusiasts into the wilds of Africa to enjoy the wildlife, scenery and people of Africa. I have been in the African wildlife safari industry for more than 30 years now and this is an attempt to provide an intimate wildlife safari service to people who are seriously interested in learning about and experiencing Africa's ecosystems in a deep, real and meaningful way. Our safaris are not just shallow supreficial visits to places, but involve quailty time and deep exploration and learning, whilts at the same time being exciting and rewarding. An example of the contrast that we create on safari: stop the safari vehicle at night, switch off all the lights and look up at the unpolluted night sky in silence, perhaps a hyaena calls in the distance. OR find a pride of lions on the hunt through the bush at night. We follow them for two or three hours until they make a kill right in front of our eyes!
Our audience is anyone who is interested in coming to Africa on safari, and who wants to learn more about Africa's ecosystems, Africa's wildlife and how they behave and Africa's people. Because our safris will be small groups, intimate and taylor made, the target audienc generally be fairly upmarket as the safaris will not be cheap. Most people only come to Africa once during their lives, so the audience will mostly be new, but there will be about a 40% section who are "Africa junkies" who will return again and again.
Our logo must somehow capture the essence of Africa. Most people come to Africa in the dry months and there is a lot of dust, orange skies at sunset, huge orange/red suns above the horizon, and mostly various shades of browns and greys. Africa is famous for its wild animals, from elephants to the various predators such as lions and leopards. Although the African people and cultures are an important part of Africa, we wouldn't want this emphasised in the logo as our safaris are mostly about the animals.
We would firstly like to see a mix of the earthy brown, grey and orange colours of Africa in the logo that evoke the dust and atmosphere of Africa.
Then any one of the following or combination of the following: an iconic African animal or animals (Elephant, Lion, Leopard), perhaps an iconic African tree like the acacia tree or the baobab, a safari vehicle, a group of people perhaps walking or looking through binoculars, one of Africa's birds (vulture, eagle, roller).
We like the idea of silhouettes. We would not like the logo to be made of photos. A logos that I like include http://www.suzieszterhas.com, http://www.andersonwildlifeproperties.co.za, http://www.africannaturetraining.co.za.
