Pretty Good Storyteller
We're all about storytelling. Funny ones, scary ones...well actually mostly just funny and scary ones.
Storytelling had a real good run there for about 10,000 years, roughly between the invention of the phrase "severed appendage" and the invention of the VCR. But it's been in a slump lately. No one tells stories anymore. They watch shows about tacky people, and shows about shows about tacky people. They poke node-down at their phones, and fiddle with their 401ks. They don't talk about anything but carbs. There's nothing wrong with any of this, of course, but shouldn't we give an ancient art one last chance?
Our mission, in short, is to resuscitate storytelling using (you guessed it) your iPhone! Yes, the same iPhone that occupies your every idle nanosecond. It will soon be used to amaze your friends. It will be 2008 all over again.
The secret of how we intend do this is still buried somewhere non-obvious, but we need your help now!
This is pure family stuff. It's lemonade, the Cosby Show, Art Linkletter after one beer but before three. It's for telling ghost stories and funny stories and silly stories and fish stories.
We hope parents will use it to tell tales to their kids, and then the kids will want to use it to tell tales to their parents. Boys will impress girls with it. Girls, boys. And so on.
Above all, this is meant to be fun. Maybe scary too.
We don't want serious, elegant, industrial, or professional. And yet, we don't want to look like a Willy Wonka wrapper either. This is, after all, supposed to be a return to the tradition of storytelling, but modernized. We picture a campfire, perhaps fireflies, the silhouette of a raconteur, iPhone in hand, and a titillated audience of kids, or maybe just their wide eyes. (If you can fit that into a square inch then you are a genius.)
We picture drawings, not photos. Cartoonish is ok. We don't have any thoughts on color.
We think it's important to emphasize that this app is about people. You wouldn't use this by yourself.
We are going to use this logo in two ways: on a web site and on an iPhone app. That probably means that we will need a simplified, text-free version for the phone. The version for the web should have the text "Pretty Good Storyteller" integrated into it somehow. The phone version must be a square, the web version doesn't have to be.
Thanks!
