Sort Shots - a new app released in December in the app store. Current icon feedback wants something more classy, representative and refined reflecting the program.
This program helps users find and share their photos by adding their own customized words, rating their photos, etc. The user can then share their photos with a slideshow, upload photos to Facebook/Twitter, e-mail etc.
iPhone and Touch app buyers who use their iPhone camera or who have photos on their device.
Ideally, the logo will be flexible enough to also use on the BlackBerry app store but for now, am concentrating on the iTunes store.
Some Stat's on audiences for iPhones and Touch's:
iPOD TOUCH USERS ARE YOUNGER THAN iPHONE USERS
• 69% of iPod touch users are between 13-24 years of age, while this same segment represents just 26% of iPhone users.
• 74% of iPhone users are over the age of 25, compared to 31% of iPod touch users.
iPHONE USERS HAVE HIGHER INCOME LEVELS & ARE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE KIDS; BOTH DEVICES SKEW MALE
• In line with the older demographic composition of iPhone users, they also have higher incomes. 78% of iPhone users have an annual income of at least $25,000, compared to only 66% of iPhone touch users.
• iPhone users are more likely to have children than iPod touch users, most probably due to the age difference in the two groups. 46% of iPhone users have children, compared to only 28% percent of iPod touch users.
• More than 70% of users on both the iPhone and iPod touch are male.
listening to the radio.
Goal is to have a more classy feel icon that is also representative of the program and encourages people to try it. Ideally, the icon would have a classic Apple feel to it similar to other Apple icons but not necessarily. I also don't want to just be a camera lens - there are too many 'lenses' already in the iTunes store and want to differentiate and grab visitors attention in a positive, exciting way.
I like a bright color like the yellow/red in the current icon because it stands out amongst the sea of other icons.
Feedback on current icon:
- Poor quality cartoon which looks dopey & communicates nothing about the app. This is a good app & deserves better!
I've attached two items, one is Apple's suggestions for icons (notes from a Developers conference) and the other is basically the below (for ease of reference)
Requirements:
512px square
72 ppi, RGB, flattened, no transparency
High quality JPEG or TIFF image
A smaller version (of the same logo)
57px square
72 ppi, RGB, flattened, no transparency
24 bit PNG image file format
A shine on the icon as required by the iTunes store. Please see attached iTunes guide re: shine.
