Kids Camera Club
It's a weekly online class/club that teaches kids photography in a fun and entertaining way. Focusing not on technology of cameras or complicated f-stops/shutter speeds, etc, but on composition, subject matter, lighting, creative ideas, etc. Goal is to get children to enjoy taking pictures, exploring their world through a camera lens and develop a skill to help them express themselves and gain confidence by being good at something. Target end-user audience is 6-14 year olds. Target purchasing audience is parents, grandparents who put a priority on taking family photographs, having fun with photography and preserving family memories. This class/website is a product of www.howtophotographyourlife.com (www.facebook.com/howtophotographyourbaby) whose primary audience is what we call "photo-moms", "photo-grandmas" and scrapbookers.
Logo types to explore
As a photography site, the logo needs to reflect photography in a way that appeals to children (grade schoolers through middle school). It's more about photography than cameras, but the camera is of course a natural symbol (one possiblity, anyway--we are open to others) and "Kids Camera Club" had a better ring to it than Kids Photography Club! So it's key that the graphic logo can work well together with actual photography (photographs of kids taking pictures and/or photographs taken by kids) as it could be incorporated on the website or other materials together with such photos to convey what we do. We've attached a file which is just a quick rough sketch of how it might be used and please note the logo was also just a quick general idea from one of our freelancers. (We're not thrilled with that logo itself but the graphic camera concept could have some potential in more skilled hands---different colors, font, more prominent text, etc.--could be a starting point for one idea? Please note that Nick is not just a typical instructor type, but a fun personality in the style of Bill Nye the Science Guy, Mr. Rogers, Pee Wee Herman, etc. So it's possible that a photo of him (not the one in this example but one that shows more character, for example, the Nick Kelsh Roadshow sample attached, or a version of the illustration he uses on another program--Nick caricature attached--might be incorporated into the logo. We look forward to seeing your creative ideas!
