New Connecting Business initiative needs a powerful logo!
Check out tiina.maria.turunen's Logo design contest…
Connecting Business initiative, or CBi, is a United Nations-led initiative that helps the private sector to get engaged in a more strategic and coordinated manner in disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, response and recovery. It also aims to make the private sector more prepared itself, especially the micro, small and medium sized companies and reduce economic and job losses related to emergencies. Through this initiative, we can minimize the negative impact onto people living in poverty and improve the resilience of communities. The initiative is global but supports regional and country networks, currently in Fiji, Philippines, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Madagascar, Mexico, Turkey, Nigeria and Haiti. We cover both natural hazards as well as conflict contexts. The target audience is businesses, global, international as well as local, the United nations and NGOs, as well as governments. Key words: resilience, private sector, strategic connection, networks, empowerment, coordination, development.
More information at www.connectingbusinessinitiative.org (please note that the visual identity has not been formed yet and the colors and visuals presented currently at the website are not a reference to follow). Please also note that the logo should NOT include the United Nations logo or logos of the UN organisations involved. The initiative should have its own brand identity. However, the logo should portray some maturity (e.g., no comic sans fonts) while showing the dynamic nature of the private sector. Ideally the logo would work with and without the name "Connecting Business initiative". The designer is free to propose logo designs that may or may not include the acronym "CBi". The logo should be simple, memorable, timeless, versatile (should work also on banners that may be portrayed to an audience of thousands of people looking at it rather far away), as well as proportional and well balanced following good design guidelines.

And then… they selected a winner!
Seven did a great job of nailing down a great design right from the beginning. I had some minor adjustments made but the overall design really captured what I wanted in the brief. The communication and revision process was very easy. Keep an eye out for their designs in your contest. Highly recommended.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
