The concept behind the name ‘TurnGram’ came from the idea of having a picture frame on your wall or on your desk with a picture that you kept consistently changing. Thus, it was a picture frame with high ‘turnover’ … i.e. a ‘TurnGram’.
I looked through some color psychology articles to see what type of emotions I would like to invoke in people.
The main colors that I think would be good psychologically are:
Orange, Yellow (light yellow, not bright brilliant yellow)
Some general thoughts for the TurnGram logo:
Needs to look good on print, web, and mobile apps.
In addition to being used on our website and in our iOS and Android apps, this will be a printed logo that will most likely be on envelopes mailed to our members.
When people get their TurnGrams in the mail, I would like it to invoke excitement and anticipation from our users. Almost like they're opening a Christmas present each time they get an envelope from us.
I would like for them to see that envelope with our logo on it and know there is something really special, just for them inside.
Here are a couple articles that I found regarding color psychology and why I think Orange / Light Yellow / Red would be good colors for the design. I’m not 100% set on those colors, but based on what I read, I think those invoke the emotions I’m going after the most:
