WATOTO WETU (Our Children) The mission of the WATOTO WETU foundation is to facilitate the empowerment of disadvantaged children, and to influence policies and action regarding the care of orphans throughout Africa Vision statement The WATOTO WETU foundation’s vision is to offer all orphans in Africa a platform whereby they can realize their greatest potential. WATOTO WETU will participate in, and help to develop regional strategies and decision making procedures aimed at world social justice and fairness. The WATOTO WETU foundation upholds and reinforces the following values and guiding principles: Equity and inclusiveness: Emphasize fairness, social justice, transparency, and accountability in all our work. This includes all relations with our sponsors, colleagues and clients. Diversity: Believing that diversity does not stop at ethnical background or spiritual beliefs, we embrace all orphans from all walks of life. Regardless of background, education, faith, gender, and tribe. Everyone is unique and equally important to us. Integrity: Display the highest levels of professionalism in our dealings with government, the donor community, and our clients. Always bearing in mind the various cultural beliefs of the societies in which we operate. Empathy: In all our day to day operations, we will not forget to remain caring and empathetic, offering more than materials but a human touch with a unique focus on our clients. Founded in September 2014, the WATOTO WETU foundation is a NGO aimed at identifying and assisting disadvantaged children in Tanzania and throughout Africa. WATOTO WETU opened its doors to the public in October 2014, initially focusing on the area of Dodoma as a starting point with the goal of expanding to other areas of the country after acquiring additional support from the donor community. The founder Mr. Lucas Joseph Masungwa, was inspired by the number of orphans who still lack access to basic needs in spite of the many NGOs working towards the similar goals. Realizing that there was a need to fill that gap, the WATOTO WETU foundation was born. WATOTO WETU works to contribute a distinct local knowledge coupled with extensive international networks to contribute to the fight to ease the suffering of a staggering number of children who need assistance in Tanzania. The driving force was to not only offer assistance in terms of basic educational material or facilities to offer the chance of a better life, but to also offer support by providing basic needs, with the aim of improving on the living conditions of children who need it. In order to assist their clients and partners, well-wishers and sponsors, the WATOTO WETU foundation established its home office in the heart of Dodoma. Regarding compliance with the government of Tanzania, the WATOTO WETU foundation operates within the stipulated government policies, aligning their programs and activities to fall within the legal framework of the government. This As its guiding principle, the WATOTO WETU foundation remains committed to the idea of bettering the lives of the disadvantaged children and orphans.
