Musical U
Musical U is the place you go to become more musical.
It's a website which offers:
1. Training resources: the latest tools and information for improving your musical abilities.
2. Community: peer support and encouragement from other people who want to become more musical.
3. Coaching: 1-on-1 help from experts to help you past any struggles you encounter.
The "U" in the name "Musical U" is a play on "university" and "you".
We believe that everyone is capable of becoming a great musician, and so the website caters to all abilities and musical interests: across genres, instruments, countries, ages, genders.
The core mission is to help as many people as possible to become musically confident, enjoy making music, and reach their full musical potential. The brand represents inclusivity, fun and musical expression.
The logo should convey both authority (we are a trustworthy source of music education) and accessibility (we provide premium quality material at an affordable price). We want the style to be modern (clean, simple, flat design) but perhaps play on traditional academic ideas.
Update: Thanks for all the submissions so far! One common piece of feedback:
Because the site caters to all instruments we would like to avoid the logo featuring any particular instrument. So for example, some of the logos which feature a piano keyboard are very elegant, but not suitable in this case, as many potential students would get the wrong idea from seeing the keyboard in the logo. This applies to microphones, graphic EQ, audio waves, etc. too.
Update 2: Although including a mortarboard is a nice idea (and was featured in one of the example logos provided) it is too strongly academic for this brand. It would seem stuffy, intimidating and far too traditional to a lot of musicians.
Update 3: Because the brand caters to all genres of music we want to avoid symbols which are strongly associated with classical music and music theory. Notes are fine, but bass and treble clef symbols and staff lines aren't suitable.
