I am needing a graphic interpretation of a capital F, which avoids looking too much like the FILA brand or the lowercase f brandmark of FACEBOOK.
I am a consultant dealing with branding and identity. The particular client I am working with needs a graphic representation of the letter F to accompany the logotype of his company name (already in existence).
Target market is upscale, professional, corporate - the construction industry.
The initial cap F icon will accompany an existing logotype but should also function as a stand-alone brand.
We need a graphic representation of the letter F - but we need to avoid association with brands such as Facebook (the lower case f, especially as used in the iPhone application) or the capital F reference in the FILA brand. The F should work both positive and reversed out of a field. Three dimensionality is OK as long as it reproduces cleanly. It should also be successful in greyscale/black and white.
In terms of color, a metallic blue and black are the current corporate colors.
Placing the F within a rounded square is a possible option - the F can breakout of the rounded square also.
The overall feeling should be current and fresh, communicating strength.
We are attaching an initial design solution which the client feels pehaps a little too close to Facebook or Fila. Exploring variations of this current design is worthwhile, but we are not married to it. Rendering this design in 3D is a possibility - or we are open to a totally fresh solution.
The selected design should be bold, graphic, and function well either positive or reversed out of a rounded square. It can be 3 dimensional but any screening should reproduce well. The client has a preference of metallic blue, black and silver (grey) but ideally it should only be two color and also render well in grayscale.
The F can be stylized and evocative without being a literal F letterform.
The attached PDF shows a preliminary design but which the client finds a little too close the the FILA F or the FACEBOOK f... however, derivations of this solution are certainly welcome.
