Toby8535 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Fostering Interfaith Relationships on the Eastside needs a new logo
Check out Toby8535's Logo design contest…
Fostering Interfaith Relationships on the Eastside (FIRE) is a new non-profit organization, dedicated to bringing together people in diverse faith communities in the part of King County (WA) east of Lake Washington, to increase understanding and cooperation. As an informal group, we previously sponsored a couple of interfaith commemorations of 9/11. Going forward we'll sponsor many other kinds of programs and events such as concerts, art shows, lectures, discussions, service projects, social events, picnics, even entries in local parades. We already have representatives from many faith communities such as Methodist, Episcopalian, Church of Christ, Mormon, Unitarian-Universalist, Muslim, Quaker, and others, and hope to include many others. Our "target audience" includes other faith communities as potential members, as well as the general public and public officials who will see that people of diverse faiths can work together.
Logo types to explore
We want to avoid something that tries to incorporate well-known religious symbols (cross, star of David, crescent, etc.) because we don't want to imply that only those religious groups are included. We especially don't want something that shows religious symbols or people burning! When we think of "fire", we think more of the warmth you feel among friends or maybe a campfire, rather than a bonfire or torch. We want to avoid anything that looks too much like the fire-style logos of other organizations like the United Methodist Church or Campfire Girls. And the winning logo won't necessarily even include realistic or stylistic flames. We're open to new ideas!
