The Good Logo Guide
The Good Logo Guide is a blog dedicated to helping small business owners understand the principles behind good logo design. The premise of the blog is that a good logo can build your small business brand and boost your bottom line.
The Good Logo Guide aims to cut through the online clutter and deliver a friendly, jargon-free guide packed with useful, trustworthy information.
Reading the blog should feel like you’re having a conversation with a good friend who is an expert in their field.
As such, the message behind the logo is “fresh and trusted”.
These concepts are unpacked below:
FRESH: clean, simple, new generation, friendly, relaxed, accessible, personal, likable. (Please see attached image called fresh.jpg for visual references. These design examples use simple, hand-lettered text with clean white and areas of bright color.)
TRUSTED: reliable expertise, practical know-how, listening, caring, committed, dependable, honest, down to earth. (Please see attached image named trusted.jpg for visual references. These design examples are more intricate, generally using darker, earthier colors. Structured fonts are placed within geometric holding shapes such as crests, seals and circles to give a sense of trusted, timeless authority.)
The logo we are looking for is a synthesis of these two ideas, combined to create a simple, clean design. The winning logo would draw elements from both sets of references, for example, displaying the words “The Good Logo Guide” as hand-lettered text within a geometric holding shape like a circle, crest or lozenge.
Our blog will have a clean, open look and feel, so we would like our logo to be designed against white. (Please see clean.jpg for references).
We are open to suggestions for the color of the logo, but we suggest the main color be a fresh blue or possibly turquoise. We suggest creating the logo from white and a single color, but if you have an idea for a multicolor logo you are welcome to present it.
Please note that the final logo design must work well in plain black and white, as well as full color.
