CakeEaters "Best deserts this side of the pond."
We are a new gourmet desert cafe with a London/British themed atmosphere. We serve gourmet cakes, cupcakes, tarts, brownies, deep fried chocolate bars, pastries, scones with clotted cream and a line of gourmet coffee and teas. All deserts are plated on old English china. You'll want to take a picture of its beauty before you take the first bite. There are individual seating areas for you and your date as well as larger tables where the whole gang can sit around, enjoying their desert of choice. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a mix of old British charm, with linen table clothes and beautiful artwork, and murals of London with it's modern appeal. We also have big screen TVs with British sitcoms such as "Keeping up Appearances", "Are You Being Served?" and "Faulty Towers" playing in the background. The idea is to find a balance between good taste and the fun, edgy side of the Brits that will make the whole place a very enjoyable, comfortable and fun place to be. There is also a gift shoppe where you can find gourmet English chocolates, tea pots and fun memorabilia from the British past and present. You'll also find all our pastries and cakes available to-go in beautiful packaging.
We aim to be a fun neighborhood restaurant and therefore want to have broad appeal to the young couples and families who live near by. We're also open late for dates, after the movie treats and informal business meeting where you can bring your client for a gourmet cup of coffee and and moist slice of cake while sealing the deal. The restaurant is not overly fancy or expensive…but is the kind of place that people feel at home in. Young mothers with there children can come relax while the kids play in their own pretend bakery.
We are looking for a logo to represent our gourmet desert cafe. Something that ties in our love of great deserts and our love of the British people.
'CakeEaters', the cafe's name, is a play on words and this should be obvious in the logo, where we tie in the Beefeaters of London. We imagine a Beefeater/CakeEater as well as our deserts in the logo. Something where he/she stands with their spear impaled with deserts or deserts surrounding him/her. We'd like something edgy but with a sense of humor. You can experiment with color but we do like the reds and blues of the British flag and the pageantry of the original Beefeaters.
For an idea of British humor, please see sitcoms online of 'Keeping up Appearances' and 'Are You Being Served?'.
You are open to play with both, just the word 'CakeEaters' or 'CakeEaters' as the main piece and 'Best deserts this side of the pond' as a tag line just under.
Some of the deserts we would like to see in the logo: are cakes, cupcakes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, brownies, teas and coffees.
We would like as much detail as possible in this logo because it will also be the store-front sign attached to the business. If your design is chosen, however, we'll also need a simplified logo that will be used for menus and description cards displayed in front of each desert.
