The Green Bride Guide
The Green Bride Guide online (http://www.TheGreenBrideGuide.com) is a credible, comprehensive resource for eco-conscious couples seeking Green ideas, products, and services. The website is an extension of the book, The Green Bride Guide: How to Create an Earth-Friendly Wedding on Any Budget, and was created because there was a need for a trustworthy resource in the Green Wedding space.
The Green Bride Guide online is currently the #1 Green Wedding site, and is organized around three sections: Learn, Plan, and Shop. The Learn section has articles, blogs, tips, and Real Green Weddings; the Plan section has wedding software and tools such as a beverage calculator, a seating chart program, and a carbon footprint calculator; and the Shop section is a marketplace where brides can search by material (i.e. only recycled items) and eco-strategy (i.e. only USDA organic) as well as color and product type.
Our focus, in addition to being credible and comprehensive, is approachability. We are not evangelical, preachy, or otherwise militant environmentalists -- on the contrary, we recognize that there are many different values that comprise the Green mentality, from local to organic to recycled, and our tag line is: "Every choice makes a difference."
In addition to our logo redesign, we have many more projects in the pipeline so let's work together to create a coherent brand across media.
The Green Bride Guide has two separate audiences: Green Brides and Green Vendors.
* 90% of all users are women age 25-35
* >80% have higher education
* ~100k household income
* In short, young, educated, relatively wealthy engaged women
* Typically small businesses with less than 5 employees
* Passionate about and proud to showcase their Green practices
* Young businesses that are only a couple of years old (or less)
* In short, mom & pop shops trying to compete against megalith companies that dilute the Green brand
The Green Bride Guide logo needs to be elegant, engaging, and slightly fanciful. Our current logo (see website and book) is a silhouette bride -- but we are not wed to this concept, and are willing to try other options, but definitely want to have some semblance of brand continuity. Flourishes from the book are available upon email request Henry@thegreenbrideguide.com
It is very important that our brand seems young, fresh, and approachable. The logo should incorporate green elements, and we have the file of flourishes used in the book cover design if you would like to use them.
We would like to see options with "The Green Bride Guide" included in the logo, and options where the text is not included. The logo should be able to stand alone and be recognizable without any supplementary materials.
List of words to describe our brand:
* Eco-conscious, earth-friendly
* Credible and reliable (with respect to content)
* Useful and comprehensive resource
* Engaging and fresh
* Slightly (but not overly) fanciful -- Most wedding sites and magazines play off the fantasy angle for brides
List of things that we definitely do not want:
* Toyish look or feel
* Dainty design
* Doodle quality
Sites that we like:
o Fresh, simple, straightforward and appealing
o Slick comprehensive resource for NC
o Complex and comprehensive, but not overwhelming
