Our organization is often referred to as APA. We would like to see designs with "Anchorage Principals Association" spelled out and some with just "APA".
Our previous logo had a rather old-fashion tree. We like the tree/growth motif, but would love to see a more modern take. Because we are in Alaska other images that often resonate with folks are of mountains, rivers, Northern lights, ravens, eagles, salmon and other more outdoor focused images. Anchorage, as a city, has a skyline dominated by a close mountain backdrop.
Because we represent elementary and secondary we tend to have different preferences because of the developmental ages we work with (i.e. elementary folks like more youthful and cartoony designs & secondary preferred logo that were more modern, mature and abstract). I picked the emotiv and spotninja examples because I thought they nicely bridged that divide.
As educators we are adults that work with children to support their growth over many years. Might be something to capture visually.
Pencils, apples, notebooks, mortar boards tend to get cliche in education; however, we'd be open to a creative, unique take on these images as well.
