The Immigration Attorneys
Attorney & Law
Ellis Porter is a U.S. immigration law firm based in Detroit, Michigan that provides business immigration legal services to employer/employee clients and personal immigration legal services to individuals and families. Thus, our logo should be professional and appeal to both corporate and individual clients. We are one of the largest immigration boutique firms in Michigan and we have a reputation as attorneys who are professional and bright, approachable and authentic, trustworthy and organized, communicate with clarity and although we are serious about working hard and going the extra mile for our clients, helping them navigate the complex, long, and arduous path through the immigration system, we don't take ourselves too seriously. When it comes to immigration, our mission is to educate, navigate, innovate and celebrate. We think immigration drives our economy and brings diversity to our communities.
Logo types to explore
The Ellis Porter firm name is not named after individual attorneys, but rather: - Ellis is a nod to Ellis Island, the historic immigrant gateway and symbol of opportunity to generations of immigrants. - Porter is derived from the dictionary definition of a porter, which is defined as someone you engage to bear your burdens or carry a load, or alternatively a person in charge of an entrance (both apt metaphors for immigration). The Ellis Porter name and "The Immigration Attorneys" tagline should feature prominently in the logo and both should be clearly visible even when the logo display size is small. The design style should bold simplicity - not too busy. Would like to see the iconic element of the logo built around a simple suitcase/luggage icon that represents the Porter idea, with some added spin further tying in immigration. Stay away from cliche immigration elements like statue of liberty, bald eagles, American flag, etc. (as well as cliche lawyer icons - gavels, columns, scales of justice, etc.) The iconic element should be unique and clearly identifiable as related to the Ellis Porter brand and capable of being pulled out separately for other applications, including social media icons. To the extent possible, if the logo could translate into a style similar to a passport stamp (I can envision making an actual rubber stamp of the logo for various design uses), that would be cool, and also a little Detroit/ subtly vintage feel would be interesting. Would like to see both a positive/negative versions of the logo (black on white; white on black). Looking forward to seeing your ideas on this. The logo should translate easily onto marketing materials, web, shirts and other corporate swag, and signage. It should be a logo cool enough that people will want to wear it just for its stylish cache! Tap your inner immigrant and be creative!
