We are a small but highly skilled and experienced law firm located in the California foothills in Auburn, CA. We all have experience in large "big city" law firms, but have chosen to be a smaller firm that can be more responsive, charge less by keeping overhead down, but nevertheless provide top-level legal services. Our clients tend to be established individuals (often owning one or more companies), small businesses, mid-size and large companies that are closely-held (meaning that they are owned by few individuals). We typically do not represent large publicly traded companies. We want to convey trust, integrity, and high-level capability. In addition, we are approaching the business model for the practice of law a bit differently than most firms, so to the extent we can convey that fact through a logo (perhaps by not following the standard recipe for law firm logos), that would be a plus. I think we are looking for relatively simple logos, with clean lines.
We are somewhat uniquely situated geographically. Most high-caliber law firms (although there are many exceptions) locate themselves in larger metropolitan areas. In our case, those areas tend to be San Francisco, Sacramento, and Roseville, California. We have chosen to be located in Auburn, which is in the foothills, with forests, hiking trails, and nature all around. In our view, it is a lower-stress, better quality of life location. The Sierra Nevada mountains are situated to our east, with the California central valley (and the larger metropolitan areas to our West). The thought behind this is that we are not the typical City-based law firm. We chose this location because we like it here, and it is a great place to live and raise our families. For these reasons, our unofficial motto is "Because We Can." E.g., we can live and work in the beautiful, low-stress setting of the foothills, while providing superior legal services a client might expect from a large law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area or Sacramento area. In the attached very rough concept doodles we have attached try to balance the concept of being in the foothills, near the mountains, and also serving the stylized cityscapes on the other side. This also conveys that we might be located in the foothills, but we represent businesses that might typically seek attorneys in the big city. We also think this geographic location will allow us to attract talented attorneys as we continue to grow.
