Phoenix Regional Sports Commission
The Phoenix Regional Sports Commission is a 501(c)3 non-profit, that is about three things: Bringing events to the greater Phoenix area to enhance tourism, to help connect our area's sports community (by hosting the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony each year and through other methods), and to help kids through sports.
That is our mission, but our culture is about much more. Our culture is about connecting people in a meaningful way by using sports as a means to do that. We have speaking events with prominent sports legends, we deal with the media on key community topics, we bid on events like the World Cup, and we gather our youth sports leaders four times a year to help them improve how they serve our kids in our community.
So we do a lot with a little. And our logo is important.
We have several different stakeholders. From the professional and college sports teams in Arizona, to the media, to our sponsors, government officials, and youth sports leaders. We serve many tribes. So our new mark must be transferable, if you will, among these different groups.
Our new logo must say "sports" and "Phoenix" in it in some way. It needs to be more modern than what we have. And be something that can be easily applied (re: stitched) onto shirts, hats, etc without humongous detail and high stitch counts (so limited background coloring is ideal here).
Our current logo (the one posted with the maroon circle) is more corporate seal than "sports". It says nothing of sports at all, and almost implies governmental bureaucracy in its look. While sunsets and cactus applications are nice, in this attempt their use was not at all creative.
Our name is long, and while we do want to focus on keeping the name in the mark, a treatment without the word "Regional" would be acceptable (or post an entry both with and without the word "Regional").
For color schemes, many of our other look and feel elements that we will drop this new logo into have maroon and yellow treatments. Our web site (http://www.phoenixsports.org) is largely yellow, so complimentary colors to yellow and maroon (or just keeping those colors all together) are desirable.
We have also posted below the other marks we currently use (Champions Circle, Arizona Sports Hall of Fame, and the Arizona Sports Alliance) so you can see what we work with day to day in addition to the Sports Commission mark that we want to recreate through this project.
