Attorney & Law
The Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted (AIDWYC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to identifying, advocating for, and exonerating individuals convicted of a crime that they did not commit and to preventing such injustices in the future through education and reform. Our organization is national and we have assisted people across Canada. In the 20 years since AIDWYC has formed, we have exonerated 18 people and assisted in the cases of many more. Further, we have participated in public inquiries, intervened in cases and are now actively aiming to prevent wrongful convictions through a new legal education initiative. Logo types to explore
We are hoping for something that will convey both the serious nature of the work that our organization does as well as to inspire people to get involved and support the work we do. Many law-related organizations use the scales of justice in their logo, but we are looking for something unique. We are redesigning our website and our new designer suggested the logo be rectangular in shape - we would like something that is approximately three units long and one unit tall. We would like to see some examples of the logo with the slogan and some without. We have never had a slogan before but many people don't know what "AIDWYC" means and we don't want "The Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted" in the logo. We want to emphasize that AIDWYC is an organization about innocence. Thus we are not tied to the slogan we wrote above and would welcome any suggestions the designers have for a new slogan that explains what we do.
