Austin Neighborhoods Council, referred to as ANC, needs a kickass logo for its new website now in development. Both the acronym and the words it represents will need to be somewhere in the logo. We'd like the logo to represent ANC's attempt to bridge the gap between Austin's natural beauty--green space, trees, rivers, lakes, small bungalow type of homes--with the skyscrapers that are being erected downtown.
The colors might reflect a soft aqua representing the water features of Austin and a soft lime green to represent the greenery. Feel free to play with different shades of the colors and see what you think looks great.
Your work will make a difference to the future of Austin, TX. Have fun, y'all!

Austin Neighborhoods Council, referred to as ANC, needs a kickass logo for its new website now in development. Both the acronym and the words it represents will need to be somewhere in the logo.
ANC is a non-profit umbrella organization created to support the wide variety of neighborhoods in Austin, TX and their interests, helping City Council and the numerous Boards and Commissions to help shape public policy as it affects our neighborhoods.
Austin Neighborhoods Council isn't a stuffy or boring organization, but a dynamic group of people who are passionate in their drive to "Keep Austin Weird." By weird, we mean different from other cities, not your usual run-of-the-mill metropolis.
Austin is beloved by all who live here and visit here. We have a city with character. We're the live music capital of Texas and host the SXSW Film and Music Festival, as well as the popular ACL Festival every year. We have hills and rivers and lakes and springs and falls, rock formations, the infamous 6th St. party scene, and more.
As developers continue their quest to develop every square foot of this gorgeous city, ANC fights the battles to keep the green spaces, to make sure new zoning is compatible with existing neighborhoods, and to save our precious natural resources from irresponsible development. We want to help expand the city for the millions projected to be moving here in the next 25 years, but we also don't want to become another Houston or Dallas. In other words, to retain Austin's unique character while supporting downtown development.
So the logo should represent the attempt to bridge the gap between green space, trees, rivers, lakes, small bungalow type of homes with the skyscrapers that are being erected downtown. Take a look at this website and scroll down to the photo of the hike and bike trail (which is downtown), Barton Springs and Zilker Botanical Garden, all downtown: http://www.austin.com/. As the banner photo on this website changes, you'll see a photo of one of our natural spring grottos.
Then go to this website and scroll down for photos of the downtown area, where you'll see the buildings around Town Lake. http://www.photohouston.com/austin-…hotos.html
Here's a nice example of the projected look of Austin in the next ten years with all the greenery in front of the skyline. ANC will continue to be an active organization as these buildings are erected over the next several years: http://austinist.com/2006/11/30/sca…int_it.php
I'm thinking that the colors might reflect a soft aqua representing the water features of Austin and a soft lime green to represent the greenery. Feel free to play with different shades of the colors, but I don't think a dark forest green looks very good online. But perhaps you might experiment and see what you think looks great.
