We are 25 software engineers in downtown San Francisco creating 4 different online businesses. We run the company like a tribe, thus the name Ooga. We are committed to each other like a family, and to making leading edge online services that address real human needs. One of the taglines we're considering is "Basic Web Technology for Humans."
This is a redo. We did a logo a few weeks ago and chose a winner, then found out we can't really have an elephant in our logo for differentiation reasons. Also, I apologize that I wasn't able to give 100% feedback on the last one. I was out at a meditation retreat for the last 4 days of the 7 day process and didn't have Internet access. This time, I'm out Friday and Saturday at my college reunion, but I posted about it on the contest page and here.
We want a brand to help us recruit designers and software engineers and grow the company. I believe getting a good brand starts with a distinctive logo. The "Ooga" brand will NOT be a consumer brand. The Ooga brand is just for the technology community in San Francisco, and the world wide press and bloggers who might want to talk about the products we are building. We'll be putting the logo on our website, on T-shirts, fleeces, mouse pads, etc.
The logo should only have the letters "Ooga" or "ooga", not Ooga Labs.
The Ooga should be **easily readable** type. You're eye should know what you're reading immediately. This is really important
The logo must be STRONG and solid, COMFORTABLE in it's own skin. It must attractive to software engineers.
We like a lot of color in our logo. HAPPY RAINBOW CLEAN but not feminine. We're trying to attract male engineers with good personalities.
With this logo, we are trying to communicate one of two things: 1) we are a tribe, 2) we invent and launch multiple companies. The winning logo will communicate one or both of those messages well.
Here's a logo we've liked: Geodelic: http://geodelic.com/contact.html We like the types of colors, the distinct font, how the unique shape of the type, and it just feels quality. Like there may be depth in that company.
