Food Preservation Network
Food Preservation Network will increase community capacity to preserve locally grown foods in order to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables and build a greater sense of community.
We are recruiting and training folks to serve as food preservation consultants and organizing group preservation at churches, community centers, farmers markets and other community centers. The events are very low cost- and make it easy and fun to preserve the local harvest.
We are about building community - our events take place in all types of communities and we partner with food gleaning projects and food shelves to preserve excess, gleaned and donated foods for donation.
We are starting in Minneapolis - in partnership with Homegrown Minneapolis, the local effort to promote locally grown food and support local growers. We will expand nationwide during the 2011 harvest.
Folks interested in local food and food justice - people who shop at farmers markets and people who are active in the community garden movement. We currently work in urban centers.
Many of the folks attracted to us care about climate change, building stronger communities, are gardeners and active in their communities. We are also serving communities who do not have the time or infrastructure to easily do food preservation.
We need a logo to clearly and professionally represent this new initiative. We are new and don't have any current design features to include.
If there is any food depicted in the logo - please do not make it an apple. Tomatoes are better. People do not think of apples when they think of home canning, etc. THANKS!
I am also an author of a home canning book - and there are design features I like about this book (www.freshgirlsguide.com - this is the older version of the book, but new book in August has similar design and same font and colors).
The book and organization are separate, but if they were somewhat coordinated that would be helpful.
The logo can be font based - but if so, very legible.
We need a print file and web file format.
some other designs I like
1) from the freshgirlsguide.com - I like the mason jars growing off the plants
