Know Your Midwife
During my career as a midwife, I have been blessed to have had the joyful opportunity to assist over 1000 women birth their babies. Women want and desrve a calm, gentle and natural birth, but all to often, their experience is far from this. In my experience, a midwife partnership - beginning early in pregnancy and continuing through to post-natal care - makes all the difference. That's why, together with some equally experienced professional midwives, we are launching a new midwifery service, Know Your Midwife.
Know your Midwife forms a Continuity of Care partnership with pregnant women to help them, and their partners, be well placed emotionally and physically, to experience the calm, gentle, natural birth they want and deserve. This is a private practice that cares for women in collaboration with the hospitals in which they birth. They will have the same carer throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal time. Many workshops (Fit for Pregnancy, Fit for Life; Getting Ready to Welcome Your baby; Active birth;Breastfeeding Successfully;Vaginal Birth after a Caesarean; Positive Caesarean; HypnoBirthing) compliment our multi-week continuity of care programme and are appealing to pregnant women willing and able to invest in a relationship born out of knowledge and know-how and a committment to doing all it can to make every birth a happy birth day for everyone involved.
While our service will begin in a local area, we have big ambitions to trademark and expand a franchise because we believe that through our services, more women can enjoy the calm, gentle birth we strive for.
We are looking for a logo that will form the bedrock of all Know your Midwife branding.
From a logo design standpoint, 3 words seem inportant in terms of the logo's tone of voice and/or feel: CALM, GENTLE, NATURAL.
Also important is TRUST. We're trained, highly qualified, experienced professionals in our field, and need to be presented as such.
Our name - KNOW YOUR MIDWIFE, needs to read clearly in the design.
Commonly in our business we see the dual use of purple and green colours. We are neither for nor against these colours. They can help make the practice look like it "belongs" in this arena. But equally, if the green and purple is too vivid, it starts to look less friendly/approachable, and it also starts to look generic. The colour must have a blue tone, not yellow.
It's also common in our business to see elegant logos that feature the pregnancy "bump" - possibly with the line of a fetus in that bump. This has some advantages - it communicates the essence of midwifery practice, which is pregnancy - however - it may be a bit predictable/generic.
Obviously no clip art or cartoons.
Our logo will be used as collateral and online and needs to be formatted for small, medium and large applications.
Once we have a logo there will be a follow-up brief for collateral, stationary etc.
All Indesign, Illustrator, manipulable vector logo files are good.
