We have a food stall at 'the famous' and huge EUMUNDI MARKETS in Queensland's Sunshine Coast, we also do various food and music festivals including NOOSA FOOD & WINE, RIPE , body art, jazz, multicultural etc.. We'll also be including more festivals like WOODFORD, SPLENDOR & The DREAMING.
My partner and I are both qualified chefs and we've been operating this business for 3 years, it's growing well but we want a fresh new look, to replace our current signage that convays what we do more accurately.
Basically, our stall is fronted with a large curved glass deli display fridge, which we fill with gourmet salads, frittatas, rice pudding, fruit salad and (in winter) take home soups. We also do an authentic Malaysian laksa and have BQQ'd marinated chicken, tofu and prawns to go on top of the salads or laksa. We take influences from all over the world and keep it modern and seasonal, but most importantly FRESH, DELICIOUS & HEALTHY.
When I say healthy, it's not your vegan, micro biotic....bland..... 'health food' type healty where everything tastes like sawdust with some cumin added. It's tasty, fresh, multicultural food, cooked by chefs..... like you'd get in a funky cafe that knows how to do a good espresso.
We've just been asked to be the sole caterers for the VIP tent at Ripe festival, this will be huge so we need to be ready to go and looking good by the end of May.
Eumundi Markets has an average of 10,000 vistors every Saturday and 5,000 every Wednesday, most of these are tourists from all over the world. We are already one of the busiest food stalls, with many regular customers but want to entice even more of those one off visitors.
Our customers span all ages and both genders, they're people who care about food and recognise quality. They tend to be health conscious, and want fresh food that's not mass produced.
Once people see the deli cabinet the food really sells itself, so we want to reel them in from afar with signage, this is especially true at festivals where there's large spaces and crowds of people all trying to choose their meal.
The look we're after is SIMPLE, FRESH and MODERN, kind of like a BOUTIQUE DELI/CAFE. We use black boards with white chalk for menus and specials but we need a large sign accross the front of our stall saying - Claude's food with a logo, we also need to convey the kind of food we do so maybe a tag line or something saying - (fresh-delicious-healthy) if you can think of any other suitable wording I'm all ears !
SIZE - The sign will be 3m long x 1m wide, no doubt we'll also use the logo on business cards and menu boards but my main concern now is this front signage.
COLOUR - Our gazebo is white but we want the signage to be like the colours of the food. At the moment our sinage is a fresh bright olive green background with white writing, it's very simple and summery, this is fine on warm sunny days but I feel we need to bring in a little warmth into the logo for those rainy cold days. So the pallet would be olive green with vibrant orange, tomato/chilli red, beetroot, or aubergine.Prefer coloured backgrond with pale writing writing as this is very clear and easy to read from a distance.
FONT- must be funky and modern, a mix of freestyle / stylised and neat is fine.
For the LOGO I tend to lean towards simple line drawings, I guess we want to incorporate the idea of cool summer salads with hot spicey laksa in an image IT COULD BE ABSRACT, MORE USING COLOUR TO CONVEY THIS
Most importantly I don't want it to look too 'slick' or 'commercial' we need a proffesional look while maintaining that hand made gourmet style.
We'll also need 2 very simple banners text only, 1 saying LAKSA the other SALAD
