jason yQ got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Original law firm logo – focused on making clients whole

Attorney & Law
We’re a small law firm based out of St. Petersburg, Florida (where we live and practice). Our entire focus is on helping get people compensated for unexpected losses they’ve experienced. This falls into two categories: (1) representing people against their own insurance companies when an insurance claim has been denied (like for hurricane or fire, or a life insurance policy) and (2) representing people who have been hurt in accidents against the people who hurt them. In the legal world, we call this making our clients whole. We seek “damages” in our cases – and damages are really the difference between life as it should be now (had no loss or injury occurred) and life as it actually is now (because an injury or loss occurred). Part of the promise we make to clients is to have an attorney available to talk to them in person and on the phone. We get to know our clients. Staff helps us with the cases, but the lawyers are the point of contact. We even make house calls (we made two just today).
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors: Blues: Knowledge, trust, calm and honesty.
We are looking for a unique logo that can go beside or above our firm name. We want it to represent what our firm does, but it can be implicit. The logo doesn’t need to bang people over the head with the law thing (like a gavel – a clichéd logo we hate!). The logo is going to be used our website, on business cards, etc. It would be great if the logo looked nice in black and white, but we mostly transact business electronically, so that format is what matters most. We try to avoid legalese in our practice and in our marketing, and we want our logo to avoid legalese, too. We are NOT looking for generic law firm logos – no boring scales of justice or court like structures or gavels. If you can breathe some new life into one of these clichés, great. But that is hard to do. We also do NOT want the logo to simply be made up of the initials for our law firm, or just our firm name with a line or two above or below. This kind of logo is so common in our field that we aren’t even going to list our firm’s name here. For visual purposes, one name is a bit longer than the other and we divide them with an ampersand (or equivalent). It looks a bit like: ATTORNEY & LAWYER. We envision putting our boring names beside/below/within your interesting logo. We can integrate the actual name after the qualifying round.
