It was a little slow to begin with, however the designers soon stepped up and got her done.
How Olive Studio started their logo design journey
My name is April Maciborka and I am a photographer. I have two photography companies that I like to keep completely separate in design, name, atmosphere and colours. The company that I am seeking help in a logo for is Olive Studio which specializes in portraits of families, children, actors, maternity and babies.
I graduated from Sheridan College for photography in 2004 and am launching an advertising website for Olive Studio. I want this site to be a portrayal of my silly and fun side to photography as opposed to a sleek black and more traditional website. I would like this one to be clean, white, fun and different from the average portrait studios. I am very spontaneous, love travel, babies, volunteer work in orphanages, exploring new places and food, dance, shopping, the city, calalillies, the beach, the ocean, a coffee in the morning and a long cozy sleep :) I want people to relate to me, to be comfortable with me, to laugh and to forget that a camera is in their face when I am capturing them.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I targeting the average person interested in capturing moments with their families, children and babies. I am capturing life moments such as new babies or the growth of one. I appeal to women who want their family moments captured in time. I also appeal to the young actor, dancer or corporate personality who needs a headshot for their business.
I am creating a website for Olive Studio which can be viewed prematurely at http://188.8.131.52/~pickl/index2.php#/home/.
I would like to make a logo that is fun and quirky yet sleek with clean lines. My nickname is "Olive" referring to Olive Oil from Popeye cartoon because I suddenly lost a lot of weight and looked like a stick figure. I continue to get made fun of because of my knobby knees. I would like to play on this idea and make a cartoon like characteur of myself with my studio name "Olive" next to it. I am open to a colour scheme that fits with my work. I want it to be clean and not distract too much from my photography. My website is primarily white - playing on the clean and fresh feeling. I would like to see some examples of "Olive" written with a cursive font to balance the fun icon of her with a more serious and traditional feeling.
I am pretty girly. I love pinks, purples, reds and greens. I would like to stay away from orange and blue. I would like my characteur to be wearing shorts so that her legs are shown and wearing flat shoes. My hair is mostly worn down. I smile a lot showing my teeth and have short nails. I have olive skin, brown hair (that I leave to dry on its own in a wavy mess), brown eyes and a small chest. I would like this icon to be representative of me in a cartoony way but still keeping it professional and with the theme of my website.
