Wadeson needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 219 designs submitted by 49 freelance designers.
Wadeson
Wadeson is a new patent and trade mark attorney firm providing professional services to clients (businesses and organisations of varying sizes) in relation to intellectual property rights.
We require a defining business logo. The primary focus of the logo is the business name but an image may be incorporated into it (eg. through manipulation of letter(s) in the business name or alongside the lettering).
Clients of patent and trade mark attorneys – in-house legal, R & D, scientists and engineers. Foreign patent and trade mark attorneys wishing to register patents, trade marks or designs domestically, with a significant Chinese market segment.
A corporate look and feel. We require a professional and timeless logo of both western and Asian (specifically Chinese) appeal which affirms the business’s “responsive” and “reliable” service and demonstrates that we are “attuned” to our clients’ businesses and deeply “committed” to their care.
Usage: This logo will be used throughout the business, including business stationary, business cards, marketing material, email signatures, web site and physical office space.
Font: A sans serif style is presently preferred, for example Gotham or similar which will emphasise the roundness of the vowels.
Colour: Colouring should be of classic and enduring appearance. Please do not use “loud” colours such as orange and lime green. Appearance should be effective in colour, greyscale, black and white, and reversed colouring (eg. light coloured logo on dark background).
Design: The business name should be the main feature hence no stand alone logo is necessarily required. However, the manipulation of a letter or letters into different fonts, colours or appearances can be considered, as can a stand alone image.
Images (if used): Avoid using clichés of the legal industry such as scales of justice, gavels, court houses and books. Also avoid clichés of patent law such as light bulbs, circuit boards and chemical structures.
Format: Photoshop or Illustrator will be good please.
Legalese: Unless this contravenes the contest rules (we don't think so but tell us if you think otherwise) the winner will need to sign an actual paper document assigning copyright (and stating that it is your own original work) in the winning entry to us. We know the contest terms and conditions say copyright is assigned but face it, we're in the legal industry and we specialise in intellectual property - and we practice what we preach. It will only be a 1 pager.
