SACLA is a registered charity that helps kids and adults with developmental disabilities lead good lives.
Logo types to explore
About SACLA: 30 years in operations Want to refresh visual materials to get people excited SACLA helps kids and adults with developmental disabilities to lead good lives SACLA has 160 staff , 100 more contractors Top 20 employers in city of about 100,000 SACLA's work is traditionally like home support, but evolved. SACLA is coming to support more people entirely in their life SACLA's job is to support to people when they need to be supported "Supporting you to live your best life" “We don’t have programs- you tell us what you want in life and we find out how we can support that.” Need to be invisible Human element is important , we have a heart SACLA is a registered charity About the logo : • Thereʼs no definite noun to portray what SACLA does , like a tire-shop or greenhouse might have. So something abstract that has the right connotations is appropriate. • One possibility (not definite requirement) is a design or shape in three parts, recognizing that SACLA is comprised of the three groups: staff, contractors, and board. • Something that potentially represents motion or energy to correspond to the word “Living” • Something suitable for practical logo/identity application , a vector shape that can be enlarged to show complexity and detail, but also something that can be reduced to single color / small footprint. • A more modern typeface perhaps. About Colors: Organization has made definite decision to protray themselves as more than just a typical disability organization, and will reflect this with a non-standard palette No definite pantones or palette, but a scheme exists. Rich purples, pinks, oranges, reds (sunset colors) In terms of color - think along these lines [ http://iamcommunity.ca/images/bg.jpg ] About style and tone: You do not want to do something too safe or traditional. SACLA takes a very bold approach to their work, and has bold leadership. You do not want to create a logo that is too sympathetic, as though the person receiving support is helpless or in need of assistance. The Ubuntu logo is brilliant. However, please push beyond clones of the Ubuntu logo. We all wish we thought of it first, but it's taken. [ http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/ubuntu.png ] You should look at the organization's site www.iamcommunity.ca , which is PRE-LAUNCH , but coming along. The site www.sacla.ca SHOULD NOT be used for design inspiration (it's all going to go) , but there is information about the organization there. Certainly, look at the contrast in energy and tone between the old and new website, to see the different energy the organization is hoping to evoke. Also, don't be afraid to take influence from the Southern Alberta landscape and region. The example logo I uploaded (first in gallery) is just my best attempt. It might give you a starting point. Please note that IF this was a perfect logo then we wouldn't be here having a contest, so don't latch on to that piece too tightly. All in all, I think the sans-serif typeface, with an abstract emblem was on the right course.
