We tend to like images where the words are incorporated into the design, when the design has some depth or not readily accessible meaning and/or requires the viewer to think. At one point we had considered calling the company "Upside" and we sketched out some potential logos on a bar napkin (attached). But we need your help! Thanks.
Update 07/24/15: Most of the submissions thus far seem to be riffs on the "Upside" bar napkin concept we uploaded here. The napkin was meant to be inspiration and not a literal representation of what we're seeking. We would like to see logo designs examples which draw inspiration from the design examples that were chosen (above). Our favorite might be the Crown Paint logo. Some sort of stylistic representation of real estate might be appropriate. For example: a) a house, b) the roof line on a house, c) a chimney, d) a tree, e) etc. Also, we tend to like the use of negative space and/or the color surrounding the logo (See: Crown Paint) and not in the logo itself.
We are not as anti-abstract as the scale above might suggest. We prefer clean, clear images rather than distracting and busy. Abstract can be clean and clear when done thoughtfully. Those ideas are also welcomed.
Update 7/26/15: We have been impressed by the logo designs that have been submitted thus far. That's why we've decided to guarantee our contest! We do want to encourage some new ideas that are completely different from the ones we've already rated highly. For example, we haven't seen any ideas yet for our company that are comparable in spirit to the "Geeks" monkey logo we included as an example of our visual style. We'd like to see some new color schemes as well. Don't try to mimic or do a minor variation of an existing logo we've rated. Do something new to catch our eye and make it to our list of finalists. Keep the great logo designs coming! Thanks.
