We are Dave McClure and Eric Ries, and we aim to represent the goals of startup entrepreneurs everywhere -- in Silicon Valley, in the US, and around the world. We have been inspired by posts on startup founder visa by Paul Graham, Brad Feld, Mike Speiser, Tim O'Reilly, and many others. We want to make it easier for startup entrepreneurs to come to the US, create new businesses, and help create great new technology AND jobs for US citizens... not to mention everyone else too.
In order to do this, we have created StartupVisa.com, a website to help change policy around the EB-5 entrepreneur visa, which enables investors from other countries to get a visa in exchange for starting a business in the US with $1M in investment capital and creating 10 US jobs.
Our goal is to modify the EB-5 visa rules slightly, so that instead of only the investor getting the visa, the startup entrepreneur who receives funding from investor(s) could alternatively get the visa. Ideally, we'd also like to lower the capital requirement to around $100K-250K, so that startups which get angel investor funding could also qualify.
