kootenaytub got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Steele Lizzy logo contest
Check out kootenaytub's Logo design contest…
Steele Lizzy is an umbrella entity. It is going to be used for our lifestyle, decor, retail and contracting businesses. Initially we are going to use it for our bathtub repair and restoration business. We work with building contractors in our area. Whenever they damage a bathtub during installation we fix it before the home is finished. And we refinish old bathtubs. One niche we are known for is restoring antique clawfoot bathtubs. Currently this business operates under the name, Kootenay Tub & Fiberglass Repairs. We'd like to operate it under the name Steele Lizzy - Bathtub Repairs & Restorations. Bathtub Repairs & Restorations would almost be a tagline to the Steele Lizzy name. In the spring my wife is going to start selling flowers at farmers markets in our area. We'd like that business to operate under the name Steele Lizzy Floral. We don't want Steele Lizzy tied to one specific product or service. We want it to be a unique identifiable brand that different, unconnected and unrelated businesses fit under. A business that could be used as an example of this is the Magnolia brand in Waco Texas.
The name Steele Lizzy has a historical connection to our area. We are located in Southern British Columbia, Canada, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. We are fifteen minutes from a heritage site called Fort Steele. It's named after Colonel Sam Steele. Everyone in our area knows of Sam Steele, but most, if any know nothing of his wife, Marie-Elizabeth de Lotbinière-Harwood. We came up with the name because of everyone's familiarity of Sam Steele, but are raising awareness of Marie-Elizabeth. Therefore we envisioned a balanced logo with both masculine and feminine elements. We envisioned it being built around an antique ivory brooch of a female bust. We'd like to be able to use the logo monochromatically.
