Religious Studies News (RSN) is the webmagazine of the American Academy of Religion, a society of scholars and students who study religion from historical, sociological, and critical theological perspectives. It is *not* a religious organization. We provide professional development programs, publishing opportunities, and grants for PhD students and emerging scholars.
In RSN, we feature interviews with scholars, insights on academic life from student and professional perspectives, examine trends in the field, feature photo essays of scholarly field work, etc. We try to focus on the hot issues in religious studies.
Our audience includes professors and graduate students who study and teach religion in universities. They are diverse: some are nonreligious and study religion as a cultural product while others are critically engaged with and practice a particular religious tradition. Our readership tends to read the following popular publications in their free time: Chronicle of Higher Education, The New Yorker, NY Review of Books, Smithsonian, National Geographic.
