J.P. Cullen & Sons, Inc. (http://www.jpcullen.com) is A 120 year old family business based in Wisconsin, USA. It's heritage is IRISH though and the logo we seek for this exercise should build on their family crest, leveraging their past and providing the logo and identify for Cullens 100 years go come. They are a commercial contractor with select territory of focus in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa so anything you create should look like it's for a creator of very significant, 10-100 million dollar jobs only "The TOUGH Job Experts" can do.
The logo we choose should leverage icons from the family crest and make them relevant to tough jobs and the future. Since 1892, the Irish clan of Cullen sought the toughest jobs that no one else could do. Each job required solving a problem, looking for a way to do something that couldn't be done. On time. On budget. The right way. Tackling the toughest construction jobs in the Midwest region, Cullen has created an expertise that is unrivaled.
The current corporate red color is PMS 194. The logo needs to be developed so that it works well on it's own in black & white, 1 color, and three color. Reverse versions are also necessary. The smallest the logo would be imprinted on would be on a golf ball or pen. Design the logo with the intent of easy in readability from this smallest format to large scale on cranes, construction equipment, signage, and work trailers. Final work should be placed on trucks, shirts, cards so we can visualize the concepts.
Your job is to find the logo that delivers all of that using the elements below.
- I've attached the family crest. Red is for magnaminous and strength, Green is Hope joy and loyalty in love
- The helmet is wisdom, security in defense, protection, invulnerability
- The Shamrock speaks to pereptuity...The FINAL DESIGN SHOULD HAVE A SHAMROCK, it should be GREEN and the logo should have Red
- The wheat is plentiful, achievement of hope..it's a harvest of one's hope that has been secured.
- The Hand is a pledge of faith, sincerity, justice
- Other background that may be helpful but maybe not:)
Key markets are public and municipal projects, healthcare, education, technology, arts and entertainment, sports venues, commercial and industrial facilities, and historic restoration.
As a fifth-generation family-owned business, this attention to quality, craftsmanship, and work ethic is fundamental throughout the company. The family's work ethic is just as strong in the newest generation of leadership.
What makes our difference? It's the people. When you do tough jobs and tough jobs only, you are always finding new situations that cannot be done.
