UpNixt got their new app design by running a design contest:
Create a fun and unique design for an exciting new social app
Check out UpNixt's App design contest…
UpNixt is a start-up on a mission to redefine exploring places in a fun and social way. We are building a social app (iOS and Android) for exploring and planning where to go. A simple way to think of the app is - Foursquare and Swarm combined. Key features beyond check-ins and posting moments are Go Lists - collections of places created by users and Polls - created by users for others to vote on places. Fun is a key element of the UpNixt experience and gamification - avatars, collectibles, missions, etc. - is something we are working on. Do take a look at our early working mobile Web version (http://m.upnixt.com) to see how the app works. We are seeking an experienced UX designer to help us come up with the overall UX for our iOS app by designing four key screens (see "App Screens.pdf" attached): - Home screen - Place listings screen - Place screen - Go list screen While we think that the app is functional, would love to see ideas that are unique and radical especially for the home screen! Also, the attached brand book spells out our colour palette, but we are very open to alternate colours for the screens with some element of branding reflected (like the logo or UpNixt blue for buttons). Importantly, we hope to work with a winning designer that is as passionate as us about our idea for the rest of the app screens. Thanks for your interest and we look forward to your submissions.
A clean design which also expresses fun and social is the basic requirement, but we are open to exciting new ideas. We have attached our brand book for reference.
Home Screen All primary actions (e.g. check in, post a moment, create a list) are via the home screen. The home screen also serves as the discovery page with featured Go Lists and Polls. Place Listings Screen Accessible by tapping on the Eat, Shop, Play or Stay buttons on the home screen. This is an important screen for users to discover places. Place Screen The place screen houses information, photos, etc. for places. Users also undertake primary actions on this screen. Go List Screen Go Lists are user curated lists of places. The app allows users to add editorial content to make the list look like an article. Users can also apply dividers to craft an itinerary of to create sections within a list.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. App design starts at $849.
