This is a wedding favor for my fiancee and me to hand out at our wedding this summer
What's your vision?
My fiancee and I are getting married this upcoming August and we were looking on making scarves for our wedding favors to give out to our guests. I have around 170 scarves in my collection and we were hoping to make something fun and unique with flavors of both of us in them. I've attached a power point/pdf of the general idea of what I'm thinking. I'm going for a match day scarf idea with us being the two opposing sides. Our wedding is going to be in Ann Arbor Michigan where she is attending medical school. Her team "crest" is a Rod of Ascelpius with the snake turning into the double helix of DNA because she spent 2 years working for the National Institutes of Health on their genetics team and plans to continue genetics after med school. The "Sin Cera" is a thing we've been using to sign off on our conversations on email when we first started dating. When we met she had a black cat who unfortunately passed away last year, but was still a key component of our relationship. The middle we were thinking the joined wedding rings would be good, with the date and location. On the 2nd slide I included a skyline view of Ann Arbor I found and included a 727 flying over it. The 727 is because technically we got legally married last year on 7-27, but now we're able to get the family wedding this year so a little fun hidden thing for us. We included the block M from Michigan because she's a student there for med school, I grew up in Michigan, and that's where the wedding is. On the other side we have the AF logo as I went to the Air Force Academy and I'm currently in the AF and after she finishes med school she will be joining the AF as well. I brought a corgi to our relationship so I included him on my side to mirror her cat. For my crest I included some mountains since I lived in Colorado for a while and then overhead I had a rocket launch since I currently work in the AF managing some upcoming rocket launches. Then I included a Sopranos patch that I designed with my best friend (and best man) when I was at the academy. Our colors for the wedding are Dark blue, light blue, and maize (Michigan colors with a light blue) so we had her side in light blue with mine in dark and yellow lettering. We were thinking either a smooth gradient transition for the colors, or a block bar transition similar to the Michigan scarf I included on the last slide, but are certainly open to ideas. On the last slide I included some of the source images I used as well as some other scarves that I was using for inspiration. Requirements from the scarf companies: Can only use up to 6 colors, including black and white. Rough dimensions are approximately 61"x6.5". Since this will be a knit design, there will be some limitations on how fine the details can be, so nothing extremely intricate. However, look at ruffneckscarves.com and diehardscarves.com for examples of their scarves and the level they can achieve. I will be ordering their "premier" level of the knit, so that gets some improvements in resolution. Since the scarf can be double sided, I would like ideally two designs, but they both would need to share the same requirements from the scarf (i.e. use the same 6 color palette) and I want to be able to display just one side in our house (so I wouldn't want all of her stuff on one side and all of mine on the other). The only absolute requirements I have are it needs to have our names, the date of the wedding, and the location. Other than that I'm really hoping I can get some creative ideas to make this one of the more unique wedding gifts out there! Some other symbols that you could put in there would be roses for her, books for the two of us, I'm a big video gamer. I have an electrical/computer engineering background and have worked on a couple of satellites. She is a biology major and as I mentioned is really into genetics. We're both into skiing and hiking. I like LEGO and puzzles (both crossword and jigsaw). We enjoy playing board games together. We met while we lived in the DC area so something with the skyline could work, but would want to make sure it didn't clash with the location of the wedding being in Ann Arbor.
I don't plan on monetizing/selling any of these.
