Our company is Spirax Sarco. See spiraxsarco.com (ignore clouds and curve design). We're an engineering company with offices around the world. Like many engineering companies we're very traditional and our internal culture reflects this. We are extremely lucky as our brand Spirax Sarco has been around 100 years so we have an excellent heritage and a very strong brand in our marketplace. Although we have over 4,000 people worldwide we have a very strong family feel to the company. People stay with the company a long time so staff turnover is very low. Whilst this is excellent one of the downsides is that we have a very autonomous culture. People don't share information easily and aren't particularly progressive in our communications. We don't have a central information system.
Our objective with a new collaborative site is to centralise information, streamline what our people do in terms of communications and sharing information. Make finding information and people easy as well as selecting who we communicate to.
The target audience is internal, our own people. They're not used to sharing information or working collaboratively. As a company we're not used to using the latest technology either. The people using our new collaborative SharePoint site will be everyone from Directors and Managers and employees as well as our overseas sales and manufacturing companies.
Marketing and IT are launching a new collaboration site (next generation of intranet) across the whole company. We are using Microsoft SharePoint as a platform. We have called the new site 'iShare'. We want a logo or graphical treatment for iShare, not in the sense of a company logo but an icon/design/graphic for iShare that sits with our Spirax Sarco brand name.
As part of our brand we need to reflect the following (brand values) to our own people:

Our expertise and how we apply it to customer business is our competitive advantage, we are a premium brand. We also need to shake off our old fashioned image and present a more modern but still extremely professional one.
From a project point of view we need to engage people to use this site for news, connecting projects teams, collaborating and sharing information, improving how we communicate and changing our internal culture for the better. We need our people to see the name iShare and be excited to use the new site.
